Before wearing Rudraksha, it is essential to purify and sanctify it. The Rudraksha should ideally be worn on a Monday, during Mahashivratri, or in the month of Shravan. First, take a silver or copper bowl and mix ghee, curd, milk, and sugar. Bathe the Rudraksha in this mixture, then rinse it with clean water or Ganga water. Place it on a red cloth in the prayer area, light a lamp with cow ghee, and chant the mantra 151, 501, or 1111 times: “Om Namah Shivaya” or “Om Hoom Namah.”
