Gautam Gambhir is a former international cricketer, politician, and philanthropist.
Between 2003 and 2016, he represented India in all formats of cricket.
He is also a member of the legislative house.
He was honored with the fourth highest civilian award in India.
Known for his left-handed batting, Gambhir played for Delhi in domestic cricket and led Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League.
He made his One Day International debut in 2003 against Bangladesh and played his first Test match against Australia the following year.
During his captaincy from 2010 to 2011, the Indian team won all six matches.
Gambhir played crucial roles in India's victories in the finals of the Cricket World Cup and the World Twenty20 in 2007.

Gambhir was one of four international cricketers, and the only Indian, to score consecutive centuries.
